Milford Sound, NZ 2015 |
I am an undergraduate student at Marist College, in the class
of 2017. This summer in addition to helping White Memorial with its many
ongoing research and conservation projects I was lucky enough to receive an
independent project looking at fresh water snails on the property. Upon
learning about this project from Mr. Fisher I have been very excited about the
opportunity to conduct my own research in an area that could possibly have such far-reaching implications. Having grown up in the Litchfield area I spent most
summers of my youth attending the camps held by White Memorial staff. Now as a
college student I am happy and proud to be able to give back and make some form
of contribution to the conservation society that fostered my own love for the
outdoors from an early age. I hope that this project and my research will help
White Memorial foundation and future students in identification of snails on
the property and serve as a possible spring board for other projects of interest in
this area. In my free time I am a member of Marist men’s rowing team, and enjoy
doing any activities I can be outside. Upon completion of my degree I hope to enter the environmental consulting field.
